My inspiration for writing this song is from my life long journey struggling with my disease of Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. EDS is a genetic connective tissue disorder that affects the bones, skin, blood vessles and all inner organs and their functions. I got diagnosed first in 2018 after living with daily pain, fractures, broken bones and other internal problems all my life not knowing what was wrong with me. The most important thing is to have answers. It doesn't take any pain or problematic away, but it gives a inner peace to at least Know the reason, to understand what is happening and to get the right help when it gets bad. Our symbol for EDS is a Zebra, which is why I chose to call this song Stripes. Behind my stripes of a zebra, I carry the colors of the rainbow. I lead my life with my heart and I've always loved to share those colors with others.
