The American pop vocalist Laura Branigan wins the Grand Prize for "The Lucky One" at The 13th Tokyo Music Festival held the Sunday night, April 1, 1984 in Tokio, Japan.
The winning song was composed and written by Bruce Roberts, arranged by Gene Page and produced by Jack White. The award coincided with the release of her third LP album on Atlantic Records, "Self Control".
The Grand Prize was given to artists who are recognized as more excellent. Fellow singer, Linda Ronstadt delivers the trophy to Laura and orchestrator Nelson Riddle handed her the check of 3 million yen ($ 13.400) as part of the award. * About the video: I'd been looking this video for a long time and fortunately now I have it on my channel to share with everyone. I'm so happy and I hope you enjoy it as much as I!.
This is the second segment of Laura's participation there. This is her second and final performance of "The Lucky One" after her victory. The first performance is this youtu.be/WgDjamwgVEM.

* About the trophy: It's a metal piece, high and bright, coated with crystal plates and also it's seems very heavy, as you can see when Laura left it on the lectern to sing. I read that the trophy has a weight of 35 pounds (almost 16 kg).
During many years there was a bit of mystery about the whereabouts and about whom have possession of this trophy. The sad truth is that curiously Laura never had it once she left Japan. According to what I could know, it was in the hands of Susan Joseph, Laura's manager at that time, who apparently many years later sold it to a fan. Then it went to a collector and now is property of Kathy Golik.
