This is the first part, stay tuned for the second: the performance! 🔥
At this moment Laura is at her height of the success and fame with the big hit ''Self Control'' on the top of the charts and in full concert tour in USA.
Host Randi Oakes presents a profile clip of Laura, reviewing the beginning, achievements and present time of her successful career. It includes rarely seen scenes of Laura and an interesting interview at her hotel suit in Beverly Hills. First you can see Laura delighting a sushi roll in a Japanese bar. Then are shown the highlight moments of Laura winning the Grand Prize at the Tokyo Music Festival with her stunning live performance of ''The Lucky One'' on Sunday April 1, 1984, the day of the official release of her third album ''Self Control'', while she talks about her experience that day.
After that, we can see Laura checking her wardrobe with Judy Swartz, her custome designer, while remembers being initially rejected by the record companies, but never lost confidence in her talent, and finally the triumph came, when Atlantic Records signed her and achieved her first big hit with "Gloria" in 1982 and "Solitaire" in 1983.
Laura recalls she always had the support of her family but specially of her mother who, noticing her natural vocal talent from early age, encouraged her to be a singer.
Following are featuted some scenes from her ''Self Control'' music video which was edited at the request to Atlantic Records because MTV considered it too risque and initially refused to play it. Laura talks about the concept of the video and the essential importance of the emotion in her songs and singing. Enjoy and share! 😉
