Our Dayana chats with two members of Blind Channel — Finland's Eurovision 2021 act. Vocalist Niko Moilanen and keyboardist and percussionist Aleksi Kaunisvesi. From 3:45 she shows them pictures of past Eurovision acts and asks them to guess what the songs are about (Verka Serduchka, Buranovskiye Babushki, Cezar Ouatu, Dustin the Turkey, Who See feat. Nina Zizic).
In terms of their chat, they say they will not be putting their middle fingers up. "We can't do that -- they forbid it," Niko says. "But we have other options on how to make a statement. We are going to do something even more special than just showing our middle fingers."
They've been practicing three times a week and say their show will be familiar to people who watched UMK. But it will have a little extra something.
"The basics are going to be the same," Niko says. "What we loved about the UMK show was that the energy was coming from us. We didn't need any funny hats or costumes. It looked like what our shows basically look like and that's what we loved about the UMK show. We're going to keep that — just upgrade it a bit."
They'll use their mandatory self-quarantine time before departing to write new songs. "It's been over a year since we've been abroad," Aleksi says. "We've just been at home in the studio for a year, so it's going to be fun."
Niko says things have been so hectic that they haven't had time to dwell on what's about to happen. "I think it's going to hit us when we hit the quarantine, when we're in lockdown and have a lot of time to think, 'Guys it's really happening."'
