This is the official lyric video to "Fado" from the 2019 album "Mind the Moon" by Milky Chance.

ENGLISH:
When I was invited to create a lyric clip for Milky Chance, they gave me the opportunity to choose one song out of eight and I immediately chose Fado.

I listened to the song on my headphones all day long and it would be the very last thing I would hear before I went to bed. Dreams are my definitive oracle. I woke up with the idea of someone running in a tunnel.

It was incredible to realize that the beat of the music had everything to do with someone running. I decided not to draw a storyboard and instead work around creating as the music progressed. The fall and flying of the character came about during one of the changes of rhythm and humor of the music. I really wanted to steal a little of the melancholy of the music and add it to the environment. I ended up using one or maybe two lights in the scene to give it more of a dramatic feel and the textures on the walls that I used came from an artwork that I made when I had separated. I colorized them as I wanted to try and give the resemblance of Portuguese tiles. Another thing that was very definitive for me was that I didn't want the music lyrics to only be scrolling. I tried as much as possible to make them interact with the main character, having their own personality.

One of the final scenes where the main character is flying through the tunnel is kind of like an analogy on the world that we are living in today. We have our freedom as long as we don't leave the tunnel.

Quando fui convidado para fazer o clipe de uma música do Milky Chance, me deram a oportunidade de escolher entre oito músicas deles, a escolha por Fado foi imediata.

Escutei a música várias vezes tranquilo no meu fone de ouvidos e antes de dormir, escutei mais uma vez. O sono definitivamente é meu oráculo. Eu acordei com a ideia de alguém correndo em um túnel.

Foi muito bom perceber que a batida da música tinha tudo a ver com alguém correndo. Decidi não fazer storyboard e ir criando conforme a música avançava. A queda e voo do personagem surgiram durante as mudanças de passo e humor da música. Eu queria muito roubar um pouco da melancolia da música para o meu environment, acabei usando só uma ou duas luzes nas cenas para um clima mais dramático e as texturas são de uma arte que eu fiz quando me separei, mas colorizada para algo que lembrasse os azulejos portugueses. Outra coisa que ficou clara pra mim era que não queria que a letra da música fosse apenas uma legenda e tentei ao máximo que ela interagisse com o personagem.

Uma das cenas finais, o voo dentro do túnel, é meio que uma analogia ao mundo que a gente vive hoje: temos liberdade, contanto que não saiamos do túnel.
