PS & The Footnotes

are a Dutch 1980's band around singer Paul Solleveld, who enjoys his birthday today, July 9, 2021. Other members were drummer Thijs Kruyt and guitarist Hans Stoop. They recorded 'Final Love Song' which was released by EMI records as a single in 1983. For the recording of this single they used UK keyboardplayer David Greenslade, saxophone player Gerbrand Westveen and guitarist Bas Krumperman.
Paul Solleveld is well known in the Dutch record industry as head of the Dutch branch of the IFPI. (International Federation of the Phonographic Industry)

Paul Solleveld neemt na 30 jaar afscheid van de NVPI
en is jarig vandaag 9 juli 2021. Om zijn verjaardag te vieren publiceren wij hierbij zijn enige Toppop optreden ooit uit 1983.
Begin jaren ‘80 nam Paul onder hoede van Manfred Mann enkele nummers op en scoorde hij in 1983 in Nederland met zijn bandje PS & the Footnotes een bescheiden hitje met 'Final Love song'. Paul: ‘Frits Spits bombardeerde deze single tot Steunplaat waardoor we ineens optraden in Toppop, Los Vast en Count Down Café. PS & The Footnotes bestaat nog steeds, nu onder de noemer PS Project.
Het bestaat uit Paul Solleveld, zang gitaar; Arnoud van Buuren, toetsen; Jan Kortman bas; Ivar de Graaf, drums en Mathieu Brandt snaarinstrumenten.
Paul: ‘Het is het leukste wat er is als ik het niet doe word ik ongelukkig.’

Paul Solleveld was 30 jaar directeur van de NVPI en gaat nu met pensioen. Solleveld kwam op 1 februari 1991 in dienst bij de brancheorganisatie als adjunct-directeur. Hij kwam in 1991 over van Buma-Stemra. Na vijf jaar de functie van adjunct-directeur bij de NVPI vervuld te hebben, werd hij aangesteld als directeur van de brancheorganisatie, een rol die hij twintig jaar lang bekleedde. Tenslotte vervulde hij ‘in de afbouw’ van zijn carrière nog enige jaren de functie van Director Legal & Public Affairs en beleidsadviseur voor de NVPI.
Solleveld staat bekend als de ‘diplomaat van de entertainmentindustrie’. Naast zijn werkzaamheden voor de NVPI was Solleveld vele jaren directeur van de Edison Stichting.

In de zomer van 2021 wil de NVPI uitgebreid afscheid van hem nemen.
Hierbij alvast een cadeautje van AVROTROS met zijn enige TopPop optreden. Het is slechts een deel van het nummer, maar dit is de clip die door TopPop op 2 december 1983 werd uitgezonden. Gefeliciteerd Paul!
