"This experiment took 2 months and is an attempt to visualize the music using a process of human-machine collaboration. Most of the images in this video are generated by an artificial intelligence system. The algorithm was trained on thousands of images to learn about Beirut. Data gathered included buildings, landscapes, skies, maps, and personal photos of faces and home interiors."
Music composed and performed by Postcards. Words by Julia Sabra.
Recorded, mixed, and co-produced by Fadi Tabbal at Tunefork Studios, Beirut. Mastered by Heba Kadry, NYC.
Lyrics:
I always thought that this would end
with scaffolds crushing me to death
Cautionary tales for city boys and girls
Images engraved inside my head
A dying Mozart on the stairs
in an unmarked grave
A bedtime story’s end
“Hush” you whisper “don’t you cry”
You worry that the neighbors might hear me
What can they have to say anyway?
I am on the other side when everything’s in motion
I’m in all the photographs and nowhere in the caption
Poetry and rigidity
the curses you passed on to me
I find myself awake at night
waiting for the day
Please don’t ask me
the customary questions
I don’t know
What can I have to say anyway?
