“Ah! The life of a creative person. Sometimes beautiful art just seamlessly flows through you, but there are times when you feel like you’re constantly hitting a wall. That inner critic’s voice gets louder and you start to question your ability to create new and interesting things.

I faced some of these challenges before starting Milky Chance’s Scarlet Paintings lyric video. I had to keep that inner procrastinator in check while reminding myself to have fun with the process. I was hoping to tap into a place of inspired creation. And of course, not be too serious about the whole thing.

I decided to listen to the track on loop, with my eyes closed, and tried to visualize a way to communicate the emotions behind every word.

I wanted to access the sentiment behind the song and try to relate it to my own personal experiences with love, relationships, and heartbreak.

Eventually, my creative juices started to flow with full force, and this baby you’re watching came into being.

They took this video to a whole new level! I’m super grateful for my team, and for the fact that we were allowed so much creative freedom for this lyric video!”
