This is a YouTube premiere of 'Children Say' a song by Level 42 to celebrate Mark King's 63rd birthday, today, Ocober 20, 2021! Also Level 42 have announced a tour of the Netherlands in November 2021. They will play a.o. De Melkweg Amsterdam and Tivoli Utrecht
Level 42 are an English jazz-funk band formed on the Isle of Wight in 1979. They had a number of UK and worldwide hits during the 1980s and 1990s.
Their highest-charting single in the UK was "Lessons in Love", which reached number three on the UK Singles Chart, and number 12 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, upon its release in 1986. An earlier single, "Something About You", was their most successful chart-wise in the United States, reaching number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
"Children Say" is a 1987 song by Level 42. Written by Mark King, Mike Lindup and Phil Gould, it was the final single to be issued from their album, 'Running in the Family'. The song followed a series of successes with the hits "Lessons in Love", "Running in the Family", "To Be With You Again" and "It's Over".
'Children Say' reached no. 8 in the Dutch Top 40 and no. 22 in the UK charts.
In this video Level 42's line up had changed dramatically as shortly before this shoot was done Phil and Boon Gould had left the groep. They were replaced by guitarist Paul Gendler who was previously in Modern Romance and also was a session guy. Drummer is Neil Conti of Prefab Sprout and the sax player is Krys Mach. Thanks to Chris Johnson of Polydor who gave us this update.
