Anna Mae Bullock, born on November 26, 1939, and known under her professional name as Tina Turner, has her own musical 'TINA - The Tina Turner Musical' in the Netherlands today. This exclusive video of the original Tina Turner performing her hitsong 'Typical Male' at the 'Platentiendaagse Gala' tv show in the Netherlands on October 3, 1986.
'TINA - The Tina Turner Musical' is the first musical about her life, produced in collaboration with Tina Turner herself. How a girl from Nutbush, Tennessee, became the undisputed "Queen of Rock-'n-Roll" - this is the musical of a go-getter who didn't follow the rules, but made them himself. This is the real, ruthless story of Tina Turner. The woman who defied all prejudices about age, color and gender.
Tina Turner (born Anna Mae Bullock; November 26, 1939) is an American-born singer, songwriter, and actress. Widely referred to as the "Queen of Rock 'n' Roll", she is regarded as one of the greatest music artists of the 20th century. Turner rose to prominence as the lead singer of the Ike & Tina Turner Revue before launching a successful career as a solo performer. She has won 11 Grammy Awards and her live shows have attracted millions of people.
"Typical Male" is a song, written by Terry Britten and Graham Lyle and produced by the former for Turner's studio album Break Every Rule (1986).
The song hit #1 in Cash Box magazine and just missed becoming her second number-one hit on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, peaking at number two for three consecutive weeks. It reached #3 on the Billboard R&B Chart. The B-Side of the single was "Don't Turn Around", covered by Bonnie Tyler, Aswad, and Ace of Base. Phil Collins plays drums on the song. "Typical Male" is unusual for a pop song, in that the chorus includes a single measure in 2/4 time.
This is the exclusive performance of the Queen of rock' n Roll in the Dutch 'Platentiendaagse' tv show of October 3, 1986.
