Tina Turner, the iconic "Queen of Rock 'n' Roll," was born Anna Mae Bullock. She had risen to prominence as the lead singer of the Ike & Tina Turner Revue before embarking on a successful solo career. "Help Me Make It Through The Night”, together with Ike, is a cover of a Kris Kristofferson song who found himself yearning for companionship when he wrote it. The weight of loneliness and desperation pressed upon him, making the nights seem endless. As he grappled with his emotions, he remembered a quote from Frank Sinatra that he had read in a 1966 Esquire interview. "I'm for anything that gets you through the night, be it prayer, tranquilizers, or a bottle of Jack Daniel's." Inspired by Sinatra's words, Kris decided to reach out to someone who could help him make it through the night. The song appeared on his first album in 1970. Tina covered it in 1974. This Ike and Tina Turner performance is recorded at the tv-program “Van Speyk Show Of Liever De Lucht In”, in 1974.
