Victoria Monét is back at Genius. This time around, she is breaking down her hit song "On My Mama." The singer-songwriter is one of the most nominated artists at the 2024 GRAMMY Awards (7) and this empowering track is a big reason why.

"On My Mama" is up for "Best R&B Song" and "Record of the Year" but it's also special to Monét because of what it represents.

"When I wrote 'On My Mama,' I didn't feel like any of the lyrics," she tells Genius. "To go into the studio with a mind of self-doubt, self-judgement, and then for it to be one of the biggest things to ever happen to me, it just shows me God laughs at you. He’s like, 'You don’t know anything, watch this!'"
