Morocco debuted in 1980 when the Eurovision Song Contest took place in The Hague, Netherlands.
Broadcaster Radiodiffusion-Télévision Marocaine (RTM) organised the country’s one and only participation, selecting singer Samira Said and the disco-infused track Bitakat Hob.

Samira finished 18th in a field of 19 but went on to have enormous global success with album sales topping an estimated 60 million.
