Zucchero, the stage name of Adelmo Fornaciari (born in Reggio Emilia on September 25, 1955), is an Italian singer, songwriter, composer, and producer. The nickname "Zucchero," meaning "sugar," was given to him by one of his school teachers. His rise to fame began with a victory at the Italian Castrocaro Festival in 1981. However, it wasn't until 1985, after participating in the Sanremo Music Festival, that Zucchero truly broke through in Italy. The rest of Europe got to know him a bit later, particularly through his duet with Paul Young, "Senza Una Donna" (Without a Woman). Zucchero's music is marked by a series of legendary duets and hit songs. Among his most famous collaborations are "Wonderful World" featuring Eric Clapton, "Senza Una Donna" with Paul Young, which became an international hit and "Miserere" with Luciano Pavarotti. He also contributed to Sting's “The Soul Cages” album with the Italian version of "Mad About You" ("Muoio per te"). One of Zucchero's iconic songs, "Il Volo," is a ballad about a separation. While it only reached the 20th position in Italy, the song became a much bigger international hit in countries like the Netherlands, Belgium, and France in 1996. This live-performance was taped for Dutch TV program “Cor & Co” on December 27, 1996.
