Raymond van het Groenewoud (born in Schaarbeek on February 14, 1950) is a Belgian singer and musician. He also refers to himself as a lyricist. When Raymond van het Groenewoud discovered The Beatles in 1964, he pushed aside his existing images of the future. Raymond, then fourteen, no longer wants to become a footballer or the new Toots Tielemans, but a Beatle. Van het Groenewoud is best known for hits like "Meisjes" (1977), "Je veux de l'amour" (1980), "Chachacha" (1981), "Liefde voor muziek" (1991), and "Twee meisjes" (1995). His songs vary in tone, ranging from upbeat to melancholic or philosophical. In gospelsong ‘‘Liefde voor Muziek” Van het Groenewoud refers to the movie The Blues Brothers in which James Brown leads a gospel ceremony. Brown was a great inspiration for Raymond. The live performance was taped for the Dutch TV program “Tafkas” on March 6, 1998.
