Picture this: a composer sits at the piano and does absolutely nothing for 4 minutes and 33 seconds. He doesn't touch the instrument. No notes, no melody... Only silence.
Who is this diva? It’s John Cage.
But here’s the twist: it’s not actually silence.
It’s the random sounds around you – wind, whispers, footsteps... Everything.
Cage said: "There’s no such thing as true silence."
Because even when you think there is nothing to hear, your ears pick up every small sound you usually ignore.
