Blue Flowers was the lead single on the 1996 underground hip-hop concept album, Dr. Octagonecologyst. Dr. Octagon is an alter ego of hip-hop legend Kool Keith (Ultramagnetic MCs, Dr. Dooom, Black Elvis, Dr. Ultra, Crazy Lou, Poppa Large). Dr. Octagonecologyst introduces the character of Dr. Octagon, a homicidal, extraterrestrial, time-traveling gynecologist, and surgeon. Kool Keith’s eccentric and often bizarre lyrics explore themes of medicine, space travel, and oddball characters, creating a distinctive sound that redefined underground hip-hop. The abstract and often outrageously comedic storytelling is perfectly complimented by complex, futuristic beats produced by Dan the Automator (Handsome Boy Modeling School, Gorillaz, Deltron 3030) and genius turntablism by the legendary DJ Q-Bert.

Dr. Octagonecologyst 2LP vinyl is available now thru the Interscope Vinyl Collective (IVC) until Feb. 1, 2025.
