*RAY CHARLES - I'V GOT A WOMAN (1954)* 'I've Got a Woman' was a major hit for a young Ray Charles', just 24 years old at the time of the song's release in late 1954. Among his first singles and several years before the release of his debut album, the song took the #1 spot on the US R&B chart in January 1955. The song has since been covered several dozen times by a list of artists that includes The Beatles, Elvis Presley and Toots & The Maytals.

The song would see a second wave of attention when Charles released a re-recorded version of the song in 1965, and a third some 40 years later when Kanye's adaptation of the song on the track 'Gold Digger', featuring Jamie Foxx, delivered the song back into the public consciousness. Foxx, who sung the Ray Charles' inspired vocal hook on the track, played the part of Ray Charles in the 2005 biopic 'Ray', hitting cinemas just months before the release of 'Gold Digger', further cementing the song's popularity. Charles' original version also made an appearance on the film's official soundtrack.
