The story of John Rambo is about to be rewritten from the beginning. In John Rambo, we’re taken back to the days before the man known as the battle-hardened veteran we met in 1982’s First Blood. This new film will follow a young Rambo—portrayed by Noah Centineo—as he serves in the U.S. Army and the Green Berets during the Vietnam War. The project, shepherded by Millennium Media and directed by Jalmari Helander (director of Sisu), with a screenplay by the duo Rory Haines & Sohrab Noshirvani, promises a deeper origin story: how Rambo was shaped by war, trauma, and survival. Notably, original franchise star Sylvester Stallone is aware of the film but isn’t involved in the production. Filming is expected to begin in early 2026, with locations including Thailand standing in for the Vietnam-era setting. While plot specifics remain tightly under wraps, the intent is clear: to explore the formative years of one of cinema’s most iconic action figures, mapping the transformation from soldier to legend.
