Longlisted for an Academy Award, this documentary short follows artists in Kharkiv organizing secret underground concerts and lessons during the Russian invasion.

In the eastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv, just 40 kilometers from the border with Russia, the indestructible spirit of Ukraine refuses to be silenced. Here, two artists transform creativity into an act of cultural survival and defiance. As attacks on civilian infrastructure continue, Ukraine’s cultural institutions have been forced to remain closed, including the Kharkiv State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, one of the city’s most important cultural landmarks. Yet these artists continue to perform and teach wherever they can, from parking garages to bomb shelters, carrying Ukraine’s resilience through music, movement, and the unwavering belief that culture is something no war can erase.
