This is the story of how BBC Radio 1's Greg James attempted the Longest Ride for Red Nose Day (@comicrelief), an intense eight-day journey across the UK!
Greg James aimed to cycle his way from Weymouth to Edinburgh, finishing at the iconic Murrayfield Stadium, where he was joined by ultra-endurance cyclist Mark Beaumont and cycling professional Jenny Hill.
Greg rode 1,000 kilometres on a tandem bike nicknamed “Tando Norris”, and climbed the equivalent height of Mount Everest. He was joined on the tandem by the Prince of Wales (03:54), Geraint Thomas, @MaxFosh and Alice Levine, amongst others.
And while raising a colossal sum, Greg shared a very clear message: Spread positivity, be kind, embrace your community and you can make the world a better place.
"I think it's important to be a part of your 'village'," he said on Day 5. "Not necessarily a literal one. It can be your family, your friendship group, showing up to a friend's birthday when you really can't be bothered, helping your next door neighbour, doing extra stuff at your school."
