As his scooter puttered to a gentle stop, The Bearded Man looked out over the cliffs. It was a short but spectacular ride to the dark side of the island of Cozumel, but he had finally made it out of the reach of all those tourists covered in oil. His eyes landed on the straw-roofed shack that he hadn’t visited for over 10 years. Nothing had changed, except perhaps a fresh coat of paint and the mural outside. He cozied up to the bar, ordered a Margarita, and set out to stake his claim on what was essentially a private beach — a place that even electricity hadn’t made it to yet. As he took the first sip and watched the first wave crash, he wished he could capture the still frame forever.
