"Ricochet of whispers, echo day by day. Away, away..."
Dutch songwriter and vocalist Adrian Broekhuyse is one in the industry with a unique talent - the ability to seemingly fuse spoken words intertwined with more traditional sung harmonies. He is no stranger to Coldharbour Recordings either, when his vocals for Ronski Speed's "The Space We Are" were combined with Rex Mundi's "Perspective" to tremendous effect by label owner Markus Schulz, and yielded "The Perspective Space" - a track firmly cemented in trance folklore.
Due to the impact of the mashup, it was inevitable that Sir Adrian and Markus Schulz would collaborate for his Do You Dream artist album. And during the 2010 edition of Miami's Winter Music Conference, it became obvious to the fans that a future anthem was lying in waiting.
The vocals are like an addictive hook that when once heard, they will suck you in and never be forgotten. The original maintains that deep and dark Coldharbour ethic, and proved to play a crucial role in Markus' livesets during his busy tour schedule last summer.
On remix duties for Away are some of the hottest production talents across trance today. German duo Cosmic Gate - who starred alongside Markus during his third sellout performance at Club Space in Miami over the course of a two week period in March, give the track their uniquely sinister dark and tech approach, with a big room melody in the break that does the business very well on the dancefloors. A consistent feature of both Markus and Cosmic Gate's sets (as well as their recent appearance on BBC Radio 1's Essential Mix), their remix is sure to find its way into the boxes of even more DJs.
And finally, step up one of the rising stars of the scene, thanks to productions such as "Who's Next", "Timezone" and the recent hit "My Sanctuary". He gives Away a more driving and uplifting feel, before unleashing a huge euphoric bassline out of the break. A remix that is sure to gain momentum upon release.
When the vocals grab you and your emotions, it will be incredibly difficult to stay away from this latest Markus Schulz offering.
