On the 2011 Easter Weekend Belgium organised a Eurovision Promotion Event in Gent, Antwerp and Brussels with the participation of four countries that are competing at the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest in Duesseldorf, Germany.
Present were two members of Witloof Bay representing Belgium, Latvia's Musiqq, Romania's Hotel FM and the TWiiNS from Slovakia.
The Team of Radio International and Oikotimes have been on location and spend the weekend with the performers and organisers and conducted the interviews with the Eurovision performers.
Good Friday evening the delegations from Romania and Latvia arrived and a common dinner in a Gent restaurant was arranged after which a live performance took place in a Gent disco called Cocteau. Then on Saturday at noon the Mayor of Gent invited the four delegations and the national and international media to a reception in the town hall after which there was the opportunity for interviews with the artists.
The next step on the programme was a little walking tour through the city centre of Gent and a nice boat tour as well. If you are ever in the surroundings of Gent make sure you visit this beautiful old city centre of Gent. After the cultural part of the day the delegations were taken to a TV station called MENT TV where the artists were interviewed on TV. The evening continued with the live performance by the four countries' artists in Antwerp's D Club.
Easter Sunday was mainly spent in Brussels at the concert for the Romanian community in Brussels where of course Hotel FM were the hot item in stage with giving a mini concert including their Eurovision 2011 entry called "Change", a chart song cover by the group Killers "Human" and a couple of own compositions of Hotel FM performed in the Romanian language. The event ended at around 1830 hours.
Please find in this clip the interview done with the TWiiNS in Gent representing Slovakia at the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest with the song "I'm still alive" and also their performance at the mini concert in Brussels.
