West: Sergeyev hits a hat-trick, Minsk delays SKA’s progress. March 8
Andrei Sergeyev is better known for stopping goals than scoring them, but today the 29-year-old defenseman scored his first KHL hat-trick as Dynamo won 5-2 at Severstal. In Belarus, the biggest crowd of the season inspired Dinamo Minsk to a 2-1 victory over SKA and keeps the Bison in the competition. On Wednesday the action returns to Moscow and St. Petersburg, with both home teams looking to finish the job in game five.

East: Avangard takes control after thriller, Barys ties it up. March 8
A 4-2 win at home to Metallurg saw Barys make it 2-2 in that series, with the teams returning to Magnitogorsk on Wednesday with everything to play for. Then, in Yekaterinburg, Avtomobilist and Avangard served up the longest game of post season so far, going into a second period of overtime before the visitor completed a dramatic fightback to take a 3-1 lead.
