Let’s be honest, after Avengers: Endgame there’s a giant, purple, Thanos-shaped hole in all of our hearts. As far as villains go, there really is no one that we would have punch the pulp out of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes quite like Thanos. It seems impossible that any villain could ever measure up to the Mad Titan and his Infinity Gauntlet shenanigans. That is until Marvel announced who that surprise Ant-Man 3 villain was going to be!
If you didn’t know already, Disney lit the internet on fire by announcing that Jonanthan Majors, the star of the hit HBO series Lovecraft Country, was going to join the MCU as none other than Kang, the Conqueror. This time traveling megalomaniac is one of the Avenger’s oldest villains and one of the best in the entire Marvel universe. Like Thanos, Kang has a seemingly infinite amount of power and genius at his disposal. Not to mention knowledge of future events. It seems like a slam dunk for the MCU, but it does leave one huge question: Will he live up to Thanos’s legacy?
You see, Thanos was no ordinary villain. He was the type of bad guy who only comes out once in a decade. Like Darth Vader or Heath Ledger’s Joker before him, the Josh Brolin Thanos was an instant pop-culture sensation. Can Kang, the Conqueror hope to compete?
Well let’s dive into it together as we explore whether Kang is worthy to be the herald of Thanos’s supervillain legacy!
