W'Kabi's Black Panther 2 Redemption Arc

Black Panther 2 has a really difficult choice to make. The tragic passing of Chadwick Boseman changed everything in terms of the future of the MCU. T’Challa was being set up to be the new face of the franchise, but now the superhero series has to decide the best way to move forward that both honors the actor who brought T’Challa to life, as well as the character himself. What can the franchise do?
Well there’s been a lot of talk recently regarding which character could take over as Black Panther if the franchise doesn’t decide to recast. The main name people like to throw around is Killmonger, and for good reason. The first film’s villain was a fantastic character and many people want to see him undergo a redemption arc where he becomes a hero. But there are a lot of problems with his resurrection and his general mindset that make this a problematic way to go. Though there is another character who could work equally as effectively. Someone also in need of a redemption arc and one that would make more sense given the character and the story. It’s W’Kabi!
W’Kabi was T’Challa’s best friend, but betrayed him because he was a little blinded by revenge against Ulysses Klaue. But now, since five years have now passed, we could tell a new story with W’Kabi. One that sees the character remorseful and sorry for what he’s done and wanting to make amends. This could lead him into becoming the new Black Panther under Queen Shuri. How will this work?
