How The Illuminati Can Enter the MCU

Ever since the first group of superheroes got together and decided that teamwork made the dream work superhero teams have become a staple of the comics. Sometimes they form from a shared identity, like the X-Men or Inhumans who are mutants or Inhumans, and sometimes it’s just a shared threat, like when Loki brought the Avengers together when he tried to use the Hulk as a weapon. Then there are those brought together by a grander purpose.

That’s the secret behind the super secret team of superhero leaders the Illuminati. With Charles Xavier from the X-Men, Black Bolt King of the Inhumans, Tony Stark from the Avengers, Namor King or Atlantis, and Master of the Mystical Arts Doctor Strange, this superband of superheroes set about managing the bigger risks to the Earth and reality itself. With largely mixed results. They didn’t manage to stop the second Secret War and managed to actually escalate the war with the Skrulls, but they at least tried to find a way to keep the Earth out of trouble.

With the characters of the Illuminati either in the MCU or coming, it could be that the MCU could be shaped by the power group in the coming years and be the driving factor towards whatever makes up the next saga for the MCU. What shape would that take? Who could possibly take Iron Man’s place? What exactly do they do with the whole Black Bolt situation? Let’s take a look at some of the possibilities and how the Illuminati can shape the MCU in the years to come.
