It’s a great time to be a DC fan. After a rough start, it seems like the DC Universe has been on a roll lately, with the studio having a few solid hits and a promise for a wild future. Jaws dropped when they heard Ezra Miller’s long-delayed Flash movie would incorporate Michael Keaton’s Batman from his original movie series, not just because this is amazing news, but it suggests that DC is gearing up to really explore the multiverse in the next few years.
And realistically that makes sense. The multiverse is the next big thing in the superhero genre and DC is actually in the perfect position to utilize that concept. Unlike the MCU, DC movies vary in tone and there are different versions of each character. Like even though Batman is supposed to be played by Ben Affleck in the DCEU, there’s a separate standalone franchise in production starring Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader. And even though no one expected it to do well when it was first announced, Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker movie now stands as one of the most profitable R-rated movies of all time. Overall, there’s a lot of different tones and movies on DC’s slate, and a multiverse can loosely unite all of them under one umbrella without sacrificing quality. Plus, if they were all under the multiverse, it could mean we’re in for one of the most ambitious crossover events in history.
So today’s video is all about the DC Multiverse and what the massive implications are for the future of DC movies. We’ll be talking about some of the best things the multiverse can do and how it’s laying the seeds for something even bigger down the line.
