We’re about to enter a whole new phase of the MCU! It’s time for new characters to be introduced and take the reins from the leftover Avengers. Phase 4 is already sounding super exciting with things like a Black Widow prequel and a Shang-Chi movie, but one of the movies were most excited for is the upcoming adventure The Eternals. Not only are we getting another cosmic team of superpowered heroes, but we’ll have the chance to see a completely different side to the MCU.

Thanks to The Eternal’s immortal status, the group have been around for thousands and thousands of years. We know their movie will follow their comic origins where Celestials create them alongside the monstrous Deviants and the two species go to war with one another. Just from that description, we’re in for a movie that adds a tremendous amount to the MCU’s mythology, but could there be more? The Eternals is in a unique place to introduce the underwater civilization of Atlantis in the MCU but in a fun twist, we have the chance to see the city before it ultimately sinks into the ocean. This is an incredibly exciting development that will not only help The Eternals get people excited for the MCU’s future by teasing the infamous Namor the Sub-Mariner, but also call into question what exactly The Eternals’ role was in sinking the famous city.
