During Phase Four, fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will finally get a Black Widow standalone movie after all these years. But while we’re excited about learning more about Natasha Romanoff, there are a whole host of awesome comic book characters to see on the big screen. But one of them looks awfully familiar and it’s not just because of their similar costumes. Let’s take a look at the Red Guardian and Captain America and talk about all of the many things they have in common. Steve Rogers and Alexei Shostakov both lived through World War II and it shaped their lives in profound ways. They have similar superpowers, or lack thereof, and they both have a history with the movie’s main character. David Harbour’s character is known for carrying an item that’s surprisingly reminiscent of Cap’s iconic shield. Even though these two represent completely different countries they are a lot more alike that you might think. They both have experience working as part of a team, they’ve taken on other titles, and they’re not the only ones to operate under their monikers.
