There are tons of incredible characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe portrayed by talented stars. But let’s not forget about all the pain and effort the costume, makeup, and special effects departments go through! Chris Hemsworth had to pile on muscles to play the God of Thunder but did he really gain weight in order to portray Fat Thor in Avengers: Endgame? Karen Gillan went the extra mile by shaving her head to play Nebula in Guardians of the Galaxy but at least the studio did something nice with her lost locks. Elizabeth Debicki compared getting gilded to play Ayesha to going through a car wash, but says she at least had it easier than her co-star Dave Bautista. Hugo Weaving had to wear a mask to be the Red Skull in Captain America: The First Avengers but things got even more complex when the character came back for Infinity War. Christopher Eccleston was miserable sitting for six hours to play Malekith, while Cate Blanchett struggled with the CGI necessary to turn her into Hela. Carrie Coon, Ben Mendelsohn, and Lee Pace all found out that playing the role of an alien can be surprisingly complex!
