Scarlet Witch has been a bit of a wild card both in the comics and in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She’s a Mutant who manipulates magic, she’s an Avenger who is also the daughter of Magneto, and in the MCU she is connected to the powerful Infinity Stones after getting her power from the Mind Stone. Her powers both on and off screen have been loosely defined and have managed to cause chaos all on her own. In fact, that’s the kind of magic she’s been associated with, Chaos Magic. That power, like most power in Marvel Comics, comes with a fair amount of consequences. These consequences have not been limited to her team of the Avengers or her familial relationship to the X-Men and Magneto, but has in fact done no less that reshaped the entire reality of the Marvel Universe. With the MCU’s Scarlet Witch set to return in her own Disney+ series looking for her lost love Vision in WandaVision and an appearance in the Doctor Strange sequel Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the pieces are in place for Wanda to bring her reality shaping ways to the big screen with big changes coming with them. Her power and her desire to bring her lost love Vision back to life could not only open the door to interdimensional villains like Nightmare, but also cause enough of a rip in worlds that ends up bring the Mutants into the MCU and setting up a conflict with Marvel’s premiere superheroes and the flagship mutant heroes the X-Men. While she has been a clutch and powerful hero for the good guys, her broken heart and incredible power might be enough to make her the next big villain of the MCU.
