One thing you want in your superhero movie is a superhero sized challenge. We can only watch the Hulk smash a tank so many times before we want to see someone who might be able to beat him. For the last eleven years, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been building its Infinity Saga up to the epic conclusion we saw in Endgame. In order for that conclusion to be worth the build up you, needed an epic villain. That villain was the Mad Titan himself Thanos.
It’s not just his army of soldiers like the Chitauri or the Outriders, or his ‘family’ the Black Order with Corvus Glaive, Cull Obsidian, Ebony Maw and Proxima Midnight. Thanos was so bad that he managed to be a villain to other villains like Loki and Ronan. In order to be a good enough villain for the MCU, he had to be a villain to the entire universe from Earth to Xandar and the Nova Corps. Thanos delivered the outsized threat that helped make the outsized shared universe of the MCU the juggernaut that it is today. As we look forward to the next saga and ten years of more Marvel cinema magic, let's look at some of the ways that Thanos became the biggest threat Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and the Guardians of the Galaxy have ever encountered.
