With the release of Infinity War arriving at the end of April, one may be intrigued to learn more about Thanos within the comic book side of things. Is Thanos truly one of the absolute worst beings in the Marvel universe, or does he have some redeeming qualities that make him not seem as bad as we think he is? Throughout the several decades that Thanos has been around, he has had his fair share of acts, hellish and justifiable ones alike. Whether it be leading the Avengers in a what-if world, becoming allies with the heroes and other villains to defeat a much higher threat, restoring a reality, or even adopting an innocent looking girl who would later become a menacing assassin known as Gamora, there are plenty of positive deeds that Thanos has done. However, Thanos wouldn’t be who he is without his twisted acts. Ending the life of his own mother, his own children, and his own people are just the tip of the iceberg for the outrageous evil that Thanos has done. We will explore the classic Infinity Gauntlet storyline that tells of his battle against the entire Marvel universe, to his dark childhood that was showcased in Thanos Rising, to his battle against a threat much higher than himself in Infinity Finale, finally to his foretold victory over the Earth’s heroes and the cosmic hierarchy in Donny Cates’ Thanos Wins issues. So, when you sit down to watch Marvel’s Infinity War, just remember that Thanos isn’t as evil as you might think he is!
