Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 3 is shaping up to be a massive event film. Every day seems to bring with it more and more casting news about some character making their grand return. What started with Jaime Foxx’s Electro has now not only grown to Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock, but also Toby Maguire’s Peter Parker, Kirsten Dunst’s Mary Jane, Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy and Charlie Cox’s Daredevil. And it’s only a matter of time before we hear news about Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man. With all this going on, the question is, can this movie fit all of them into its story and not be overstuffed?

Spider-Man movies have a famous history of overstuffing their films with characters and villains to set-up future adventures that never happen and with all this casting news, it seems like the Spider-Man sequel is in danger of repeating past mistakes. Is there a way to fix this? I think there is, but you all may not like the answer! Because overall, I think patience is the best thing for the long run, which means not having any of these returning characters in big parts for the movie. Although that pains me to say it, I think it might be better because it would allow Tom Holland to remain front and center for his movie. He’s still in the middle of his character arc and shouldn’t have to fight for screen time against older Spider-Man actors. There’s still that massive cliffhanger to resolve from Spider-Man: Far From Home after all! We can’t forget about that!
