The STEM kids in the Marvel Cinematic Universe have had a pretty good run of things. Every since Tony Stark introduced himself as Iron Man everyone with a questionable science experiment or a connection to scientists or aliens that culminated in Avengers: Endgame. Quietly bringing up the rear are the heroes that at one point in time people thought would be hard to incorporate into the science heavy MCU, the magic users. Just like in a Dungeons and Dragons game, when a magic user is new they’re not particularly notable, but once they’ve been around long enough they can be the most powerful member of the party. Doctor Strange as Sorcerer Supreme played a key role in the end of the Infinity Saga and his potential future pupil Wanda Maximoff just rewrote an entire town when she unknowingly unlocked her Scarlet Witch powers. With Strange, Wanda, Agatha Harkness and an alternate Loki bouncing around the MCU, magic users have become the most powerful beings in the shared universe and they’re set up to change the MCU forever. Strange’s long term rival Mordo might end up having a point, there are just too many sorcerers in the MCU. Other magic related characters like Blade and Doctor Doom are waiting in the bullpen to join the MCU in the near future as well. While science and space characters have had their time in the spotlight, for Phase IV the future is definitely magic. Let’s look at the key players and where it might go.
