It’s been a loooong time since Dragon Ball Super closed out with Goku vs. Jiren and the Tournament of Power arc. Even though the anime hasn’t dropped a new episode in years, the manga has been busy continuing Goku’s journey with mastering Ultra Instinct. He’s been training with Whis ever since he became a Super Saiyan God but so far his journey has barely given him a taste of Ultra Instinct’s true potential. Not only do Angels have access to a much more powerful version of the form, but they have mastered it to the extent that they are literally using it at all times. As Goku approaches this level of power, the series will have to supply him with an adversary strong enough for Goku to prove he’s mastered his greatest form yet. Luckily, Dragon Ball Super has been hyping one up for quite a while.

Ever since Goku first learned of the Grand Priest, he wanted to challenge him. This is just naturally Goku’s way but it also seems like the series setting up the final conflict in the series. The Grand Priest is the ultimate master of Ultra Instinct and is considered to be one of the most powerful fighters in the entire multiverse. So what better duel of the Ultra Instincts could there possibly be?
