With the release of Venom: Let There Be Carnage, we now have seen one of the most intriguing moments in basically any superhero film. At least, since the release of the first Iron Man back in 2008.
In this midcredits scene, we see Venom and Eddie Brock get transported by an inexplicable flash up light, into the Marvel Cinematic Universe proper, finally providing a direct link between the MCU, and Sony’s Universe of Marvel Characters. At least, that’s what it looks like.
As exciting as this is, it's not the only thing that this moment does, as it also sets up some rather exciting possibilities for the future. Including how the goo-monsters could affect upcoming films, including Spider-Man: No Way Home. Something that gets thrown around a lot when talking about No Way Home, is the possibility of more characters from past Spider-Man films making an appearance, effectively establishing these previous films as part of the larger Marvel Cinematic Multiverse.
Which, when coupled with the possibility of symbiotes having traveled to these other universes, gives us probably one of the most unexpected connections we could make between these movies.
However, this raises a few questions. Such as who is sending out all the symbiotes? Who could step up to take Venom’s place in the SMU if Eddie stays in the MCU? And what is the most ridiculous comic storyline that we could see with access to multiple realities?
