Mutants in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been a hotly discussed topic ever since it was announced that Mickey Mouse bought out Fox Studios and now owns all the rights to their Marvel heroes. Though let let me tell you, it’s been a long wait to see how and why the mutants will be introduced properly and rub elbows with the other Avengers. And I guess that’s probably a good thing? As impatient as we all are, the MCU is doing just fine without the mutants so it’s okay for them to have a bit of a break before reintroducing them into this new universe. But just how exactly is this all going to work?
Really, the most likely option is the multiverse. As much as a lot of people may have wanted to see the X-Men secretly in the MCU this whole time, that just doesn’t make a lot of sense. The only logical choice is to have the mutants in a different universe as already mostly established so we can skip all the backstory we’ve already seen before. It won’t necessarily be the cleanest of introductions, but hopefully that doesn’t matter because we’ll all be so happy to see the mutants in this Marvel franchise.
So Doctor Strange’s sequel, the Multiverse of Madness feels like it will be the first tease for mutants but after that, then what happens? How important will the X-Men be to the MCU in the future? Like for example could a lot of them become the new faces of the franchise? It’s definitely possible, but how exactly would that work?
Join me today as I break down just how the mutants will fit into the overarching MCU story and how each important character probably needs a radical transformation to differentiate from the former Fox versions. That’s right, that means justice for Cyclops!
