The Last Phoenix is a 2D platformer-RPG from indie developer Sad Slime Games starring Felix, a goblin with a demonic power of reincarnation - and unlike most games, dying actually levels you up.
Each run is fresh thanks to procedurally generated levels and unlockable story paths, meaning no two playthroughs feel the same.
Combat and traversal are driven by a fire gauntlet that doubles as a weapon and movement tool - letting you blast, hover, and dash through levels for a fast, fluid experience.
The world is desperate: goblin kind is being hunted by fanatical humans, and Felix travels with his niece and a small band of survivors - giving the game stakes, story, and emotional weight behind every fight.
With a scheduled release for May 2026 and a free demo available now, The Last Phoenix promises a unique mix of roguelite progression, platformer action, and indie soul - making it one of the most intriguing upcoming indie games on Steam.
