Richard Thompson - The Money Shuffle (Live At Celtic Connections)
Undoubtedly one of the finest British guitarists and songwriters of the last 40 years, Thompson's very loyal fanbase has faithfully followed him from his early Fairport Convention days in the late sixties and early seventies and throughout his eclectic solo career, with many new fans joining along the way. The Blu-ray release is Thompson's first ever on that format. The Mirror said, "In the guitar god firmament, Thompson easily takes a place beside Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page. He has certainly been the most consistently imaginative English plank spanker of modern times."
Filmed in January 2011 at the Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow as part of the annual Celtic Connections festival, this release captures a superb performance by The Richard Thompson Band. The first half of the show focuses on Thompson's latest "Dream Attic" album with the second half given over to songs reaching back as far as his first solo album "Henry The Human Fly" and up to recent releases such as "Sweet Warrior" and "The Old Kit Bag". Thompson's distinctive voice and unmistakeable guitar style are well to the fore and his band are as good as it gets. This will be a must-have purchase for any Richard Thompson fan. As Bonus Features we also include two tracks filmed at the 2011 Cambridge Folk Festival: "Uninhabited Man" and "Johnny's Far Away".

"Live At Celtic Connections" more than bears that out.
