Dmitry Ishkhanov was born on the 15th February 2005 in Moscow, Russia and moved to Malta with his family in 2008.
Dmitry started to show an interest in music at a very early age and started singing and playing piano at the age of 4 with his babysitter. By the age of 8 he passed the first 5 Grades in Piano of the ABRSM (The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, UK) in Malta. Since the age of 4 he attended Verdala International School in Malta. Dmitry is also furthering his music studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne, Germany. His music teacher is Lolita Poghosyan and his consultant is professor Nina Tichman.
Dmitry attended Master Classes with very famous and renowned professors, including Jacques Rouvier (France), Pavel Gililov (Germany), Siegfried Mauser (Austria), Andreas Frölich (Germany), Arkady Zinziper (Germany), Nina Tichman (Germany), Leonel Morales (Spain), Andrea Bonatta (Italy), Aquiless Delle Vigne (Argentina), Yuri Didenko (Russia), Giuliano Mazzoccante (Italy), Nikita Fitenko (USA), Antonio Di Cristofano (Italy), Alexander Zolotarev (Germany), Vasily Shcherbakov (Russia) and Katja Avdeeva (Switzerland) among others.
Dmitry was the 1st prize-winner at numerous prestigious competitions such as XXII Young Pianists International Competition "Citta di Barletta" in Italy, International Piano Competition “Golden Key” in Germany, laureate in "Münchner Klavierpodium der Jugend" in Germany, “Jugend Musiziert” in Germany, XXV Young Musicians International Competition "FLAME" in France, "Euregio Piano Award" International Piano Competition in Germany and International César-Franck Competition in Belgium; and 2nd prize-winner at the International Competition of Young Music Talents "Rovere D'Oro" in Italy, International Piano Competition "Maria Herrero” in Spain (2nd prize and special prize); and was awarded a special prize at the Malta International Music Competition “Violin & Friends”.
Dmitry participated in many internationalfestivals such as International Festival “New Names” (Armenia), International “Violin & Friends” Festival (Malta), Valletta International Piano Festival (Malta), Malta International Music Festival (Malta), Rachmaninoff Festival (Germany), Clavicologne International Piano Festival (Germany), “Moscow meets friends” festival organized by Vladimir Spivakov International Charity Foundation (Russia), Piano-Festival Ruhr (Germany), International Piano Festival (Italy) and “Three Palaces” Festival (Malta).
In addition, he has performed as a soloist with various orchestras such as the WDR Orchestra at the Philharmonic in Cologne, symphonic orchestra “Duchi d'Acquaviva”, the National Chamber Orchestra of Armenia, New Philharmonie Westfalen Orchestra and the chamber orchestra NRW in Germany.
Dmitry performed in concerts in France, Italy, Germany, Austria, Denmark, Switzerland, Armenia, Russia, Czech Republic, Belgium, Spain and Malta. During the summer of 2016 he is invited to perform concerts in Cologne, Paris, Moscow, Washington, Philadelphia, New York, Yerevan, Rome, Vienna and Salzburg.
Dmitry loves learning languages and by now he is fluent in Russian, English, German and Spanish.
