Lil Nas X has risen to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 thanks to his country trap hit, “Old Town Road.” According to his post on the Genius forums, Lil Nas X has only been rapping since June 2018, one month prior to the release of his EP, 'Nasarati.' Lil Nas X leveraged his sizable Twitter following to promote his music with clever memes, setting the path for “Old Town Road” to go viral on TikTok.
