Jakop Janssønn is a Norwegian drummer and composer. Jámežiid heajat is the first single from his solo-album Bricoleur. Previously he has created film music and commissions such as Peer Gynt, Ishavsblod, Døgnrytme and a musical interpretation of Veiviseren. In 2019 he received the Norwegian Grammy as musician and producer for the album Mojhtestasse by Marja Mortensson.
Jámežiid heajat is an expression from Sami superstition, still in use of today. It describes a weather phenomenon, where two opposites meet. The intertwining of these may be sacred.
The composition is built on the idea of this intertwining, and is inspired by Russian, Norwegian and Sami folk music. It is composed by Jakop Janssønn, and the string arrangement is written by Daniel Herskedal.
