Racoon is a Dutch band that has been active since 1997. They became known as a melodic rock group, but over the years focused more on singer-songwriter-like repertoire, with a prominent role for the acoustic guitar. Their biggest hits are 'Love you more' (2005), 'No mercy' (2011), 'Ocean' (2012) and 'It's getting late' (2020)

'Shoes Of Lightning' was written as an anthem for 3FM Serious Request 2013, the annual campaign of radio station 3FM, to reduce child mortality due to diarrhea. All proceeds from downloads of the single went directly to charity. In November and December the song was declared a Megahit and entered the Single Top 100 where it reached #5th place and the Dutch Top 40 where it reached #26.
