Bonnie St. Claire, pseudonym of Bonje Cornelia Swart (Rozenburg, 18 november 1949) is a Dutch singer.
She was born on a ship, and was the daughter of a skipper. In 1966 she was discovered by producer Peter Koelewijn, when she was allowed to sing a song on stage as a 17-year-old girl. In 1967 she got a recording contract through Koelewijn and made her first single under the stage name Bonny St. Claire.
In the first half of the 1970's she scored a few solo hits, initially still in English for instance in 1970 with the ballad "I won't stand between them ". In 1972 she teamed up with the group Unit Gloria, with which she scored several hits in the Netherlands and abroad. In 1975, after the single "Rocco don't go", the collaboration ended. Later that year she joined the Philips label and scored a Top 10 hit with an ensemble of artists that sang the Christmas hit "A Very Happy Christmas".
In the summer of 1976 she released the single "Dokter Bernhard", on which dj Ron Brandsteder can be heard as Dr. Bernhard. In the same year she scored her only number 1 hit together with Don Mercedes with whom she released the single "Rocky". The single achieved the highest position in both the Dutch Top 40 and the National Hit Parade for two weeks.
'Dokter Bernard' is a Dutch version of 'Sister Mary', written by Peter Yellowstone and Roberto Danova and made popular by Joe Dolan.
