One of Helge Krabye's most interesting projects was to compose original music for the Radio Fantasy Series "Order and Chaos" ("Orden og Kaos") that his friend Arnfinn Sørensen (Christensen) wrote and produced for radio (NRK) back in 1998. Helge has found many unused sounds and musical pieces from that project, and he has now picked up these audio files and created "Frozen Waterfall". MetaSynth by U&I Software was the main instrument when creating the sounds and effects for this composition. Helge has tried to illustrate how a waterfall freezing to ice can sound. The purpose was not to create a realistic sound, but to let the listener feel the power of the water and the drama that unfolds when a waterfall is freezing to ice. Helge has used recordings of both running water, splashes and waterfalls, and he has combined them with heavy drum sounds and screaming metal pitched down or stretched (in the Effects Room in MetaSynth). From his work with sound design through the years, Helge has learned that if he wants a really heavy sound, he should stack several similar sounds on top of each other. - You can read more about this track and how Helge used MetaSynth in the 26 page digital Booklet that comes with the download of the album at Homeless Balloon's Bandcamp page.
