Bløf is a Dutch band that was founded in 1992 in Middelburg, a year when the group became a household name in Zeeland. Their first single, "Liefs uit Londen" was released on January 30, 1998, from their second album “Helder” (released in September 1997). The lyrics were written by bassist Peter Slager, who drew inspiration from the board game Around the World in 80 Days. Tragedy struck the band on March 17, 2001, when drummer Chris Götte was killed in a horrific accident. The loss left a deep impact on the band members, their crew, their fans, and the music world. The album “Blauwe ruis” is filled with songs that express the sorrow of that loss, including the title track, which is considered one of Bløf’s most beautiful songs. This song, "Blauwe ruis," is specifically about dealing with loss and was written in memory of Chris. Despite the tragedy, the band continued, with Norman Bonink joining as the new drummer. Some of Bløf's other major hits include "Holiday in Spain", "Alles Is Liefde", "Wat Zou je Doen", "Dansen Aan Zee", "Aan De Kust", "Harder dan ik Hebben Kan", and "Zoutelande." Tthe band achieved its 40th hit in the Dutch Charts with the song "Horizon," demonstrating that they have enough hits to fill an entire Bløf songchart. The live performance of “Liefs uit Londen” was taped for the Dutch TV program “Tafkas” on May 31, 1998.
