Chopin Waltzes (Complete) | Alberto Nones
Unlike the Viennese Waltz, we are not meant to dance to Chopin’s waltzes, but rather to be led by their rising rhythm on an emotional journey all across our room. Join us in this exploration of one of this composer’s favourite musical forms, so able to express all of his distinctive tenderness, intimacy, and heartrending pathos.
(Composer’s biography after the tracklist)
A note on the CD and MP3 playlist available for download on the Halidon website, where the sequence of the pieces is different than the present (Youtube) one. If you follow the above link to the Halidon Music Store, you will see that the order of the Waltzes is primarily chronological, with the New York Waltz at its centre functioning as a mirror reflecting the other waltzes.

For many, Chopin embodies the Romantic spirit of his age, which his music so perfectly expresses. Born in Poland in 1810, he completed his musical studies in Warsaw at only 20 (1830), after which he moved to Paris, where he would spend the rest of his life. During the next 19 years, until his premature death in 1849, Chopin would revolutionise the piano, both as a performer and composer. He introduced an intimate, personal playing style that made use of different elements of musical and expressive improvisation. Though his oeuvre mostly comprises shorter, solo piano pieces it does not compare unfavourably with that of other giants of classical music, such as Beethoven, Mozart, and Bach. Listen for yourself; there is often more, and more sublimely expressed, in three minutes of a Chopin Étude than in some symphonies!
